REACT is open to all students currently in 4th – 12th grade. No prior experience is required—just a willingness to learn and a passion for technology!

We teach Robotics, Engineering, and Coding using Vex Robotics. Vex Robotics is a product line created in the 2000’s to give teachers the ability to teach STEM in the classroom.
Younger students (typically grades 4-6) will use the Vex IQ product line of parts and motors. These are plastic parts with motors that are age appropriate.
Older students use the Vex V5 product line using metal parts and more powerful motors, they are also introduced to industry level tools and techniques.
Students will document and build robots in a team environment to compete using the current competition in the state, national and world level.
Students will also complete our self paced curriculum through the season. This gives them principles and techniques they will master and apply to their teams progress.

Vex IQ meets on Monday and Thursday during the school year. Vex V5 meets on Tuesday and Friday. Wednesday is available for teams that schedule time. Once a student is on a team, the parents will coordinate scheduling time to come in on the off days and will be granted access to the facility. Outside of the school calendar teams can schedule time to come in and build as needed and available.
The robotics competition season is between October and March, teams that qualify for worlds will continue to meet to the end of April. Tournaments are held on Saturdays, typically 1-3 Saturdays a month. There are more tournaments in the later part of the season.

We are located at 1201 North Dixie HWY Suite 207 in Elizabethtown. This facility is about 2800 sq ft and allows around 10-15 teams practice at a time. As we have grown there is not room for parents to hang out, you are asked to wait in the lobby, car, or drop off/Pick up your student.
Competitions are held mostly within 2 hours of Elizabethtown. There are larger tournaments called “Signatures” that happen further away, teams can choose to participate in signatures but it’s not mandatory.

This is a little complicated. REACT started to give students without a robotics program in their school the ability to participate in robotics, allowing them to increase their knowledge in Robotics, Engineering, and Coding. We have since found there are students that want a deeper experience in Robotics, Engineering and Coding so we have since opened up to any student.

The other reason is, we think we need to celebrate smart kids. Some students do not get an opportunity to show off their creativity and intelligence, we want an opportunity to celebrate smart kids. When students find other students that harbor the same desire for intelligence, learning explodes.

REACT is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All of our mentors and coaches are volunteers. We charge $50/month per student to pay the rent on our facility. Additional students in the same household are $25/month.
REACT is also dependent on fundraising as well as community partners to purchase equipment, pay competition fees, registration fees, and operating expenses. Without community partners the students would not be able to build or compete. Monthly dues alone cannot sustain a teams budget, everything has to work together in order to keep this opportunity going.
